Grit Bins

The Parish Council provides  and maintains 23 grit bins across the Parish.  Guidance on the amount of grit to use is available as separate document on this website  page – see the document “Winter Useful Information Pack – Hand Gritting” below.  If any of these bins need additional grit please contact the Parish Clerk.

What happens when there is heavy snow

In the event that heavy snowfall is deep enough to be classified as a “severe winter event”  by West Sussex County Council, the Parish Council has requested the gritting and clearing of snow for additional roads in the Parish.  This work will be co-funded by the Parish Council and WSCC.

Note that this will only be done if a severe weather event is triggered by WSCC.

The additional roads, listed from the north of the Parish, are as follows:

  • Bell Vale Lane & Mill Copse Road
  • Fernden Lane to Parish boundary
  • Hogs Hill/Old Glebe – not side road section of Old Glebe
  • Church Road
  • Nappers Wood and West Close
  • The Leys/South Leys
  • Crossfield and car park
  • Lickfold Road to Parish boundary
  • Miggs Lane/Cooks Bridge Lane from A286 to junction with Lickfold Road
