URGENT REQUEST – The Parish Council would like to hear your views on the public toilets at the Crossfield car park.  There are no plans to close the toilets but the survey will inform the ongoing discussion at the Council on the future of the toilets.   The survey will take only two minutes and can be accessed using the link below or the QR code above.  Closing date for replies is Monday 14th September.

Some Background Information

At the moment there is no legal requirement for your local authority, be this the County, District or even the Parish Council, to provide public toilets and The Royal Society for Public Health has found there has been a 16% reduction in public toilets across England since 2016.

In January 2014 Fernhurst Parish Council took over the management of the toilets from the owners, Chichester District Council, after the toilets had been closed for over a year.   Since then the Parish Council has spent a very significant sum on re-furbishing the toilets  and has now been managing them for more than ten years.  The toilets are available to all members of the public seven days a week, from 7am until 7pm (shorter hours on a Sunday).  The Parish Council has also recently changed the contractors operating the toilets with a marked improvement in the standard of cleanliness.

Although less likely to be used by people residing in the immediate area, the toilets do provide a service for residents from elsewhere in the Parish, visitors to the area and passing tradespeople.

The Parish  Council  meets all the cost of running the toilets using funds from the precept at an average annual cost of £7 for each household in the Parish.  There are no plans to close the toilets, but the Parish Council would like to hear your views.
