Privacy Notice

Fernhurst Parish Council is committed to protecting the rights and freedoms of members of the public, staff and councillors, and safely and securely processing their data in accordance with all of our legal obligations.

We aim to keep the level of personal data that we hold about members of the public, councillors and employees to the minimum that is necessary to conduct council business.

We may collect non-sensitive personal information of councillors and members of public who attend council and council sub-committee meetings and include the information in the meeting agendas and minutes. The agendas and minutes are a matter of public record and we are required by law to publish copies of the agenda and minutes on our website and supply copies on request. The Council will normally agree to all requests for information whether made informally or using the Freedom of Information Act 2000.

Article 6 (1) of the General Data Processing Regulations 2018 (GDPR) states that processing of personal data is lawful where it is “necessary for the performance of a task carried out in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in the controller”, hence under the GDPR we are not required to gain consent for personal information that is included in the agendas and minutes and published as part of the Council’s legal obligations.

If we intend to process your data for any reason outside of the legally-mandated business of the Parish Council we will inform you via an additional privacy notice when we collect your information. We will tell you how we intend to use your data, how long we intend to keep it, and we will ask for explicit written permission to collect and process your data.
